Wirral venture Simed Global secures deal that will see its instant diagnostic medical device sold and distributed across the Middle East.
Based in Woodside Business Park, Simed has been developing its Diagno device for several years. It offers instant, lab-quality diagnostic results at the point of care โย significantly reducing the time to diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Founded by Simon Maurer, the business employs a 15-strong team. During the past few years it has raised ยฃ1.75m in private equity investment.
This latest distribution deal has been struck with Varieties Medical which will serve as the exclusive partner/distributor of the technology across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
This is an economic and political union that comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

He was inspired to start the business after learning about the volume of unnecessary prescriptions for antibiotics and how this leads to the development of antibiotic resistance.
