Senior councillors in Sefton set to decide on plan by One Vision Housing to build 53 affordable homes on the site of a former high school. Tony McDonough reports

One Vision Housing wants to build 53 affordable homes on the site of the former Bootle High School.
At a meeting next week, Sefton Council’s Cabinet are being asked to approve the use of land to create the new family homes. One Vision’s Plan fits in with the council’s own ambitions for the site.
All homes at the site will be built to Building Regulations 2021 standards which result in a 31% reduction of carbon and all homes are anticipated to have a minimum EPC rating of B and electric vehicle charging points as standard.
An affordable home is one with either a sale price or rental that is now more than 80% of the local market rate.
Roy Williams, chief executive at The Sovini Group (of which One Vision Housing is a division) said: “We are excited to partner with Sefton Council on the development of significant new housing.
“This crucial initiative is set to provide much-needed social housing, creating opportunities for local people to thrive in high-quality, affordable homes and contribute to vibrant and inclusive communities.”
With cabinet and council approval of the proposed scheme, construction is expected start this financial year.

Sefton Council leader Marion Atkinson added: “The Bootle High site provides Sefton Council with the opportunity to work with One Vision Housing to create 53 new affordable family homes that will help tackle that need in line with the Government’s new, national housing policy.
“We will be working with One Vision to finalise the best mix of two, three and four-bed family homes with the right combination of social rent and low-cost ownership options.
“I hope my colleagues will agree that this is a great opportunity to provide residents with a choice of affordable housing types and tenures.”
