Sisters Jasmine Beckett and Natalie Mercer, and their mother Jill Peers, have secured a cash injection to launch a new Liverpool city region coffee shop.

They have opened Patisserie Lane on the site of the former ‘The Whole of the Spoon’ cafe in Farnworth Village in Widnes. They have secured £60,000 from NPIF II – River Capital & GC Business Finance Smaller Loans.

This fund is managed by River Capital & GC Business as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II. The cash injection has allowed a full refurbishment of the outlet.

These renovations have created a new interior and provided upgrades to kitchen equipment. It is expected up to four new full-time jobs will be created.

Jasmine, Natalie and Jill will focus on providing coffees, teas, and pastries in an “inviting atmosphere”. They aim to bring a community feel to both residents and visitors to the area.

“Securing this investment from NPIF II and River Capital is a huge step in making our vision of Patisserie Lane a reality,” said Jasmine, who will manage the day-to-day operations.

“We are excited to serve hand-crafted coffees, teas and pastries in a vibrant environment and our goal is to make Patisserie Lane a must-visit destination in Widnes.”

The £660m NPIF II covers the North of England and provides loans from £25,000 to £2m and equity investment up to £5m to help a range of small and medium sized businesses to start up, scale up or stay ahead.

Sue Chambers, investment manager at River Capital, added: “We are happy to support the launch of Patisserie Lane and the entrepreneurial drive of Jasmine, Jill and Natalie.

“With their previous business experience and enthusiasm, we believe Patisserie Lane has excellent potential for success.”
