Floating Liverpool sauna that offers a ‘cold dip in the docks’ for the hardcore punter opens its steamed-up doors for the first time. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool’s first floating sauna has finally opened its doors and offers the opportunity for a winter dip in the dock for hardier punters.
First announced earlier this year Wyld Sauna, is located in Princes Dock in Liverpool Waters, home to thousands of people in high rise apartments as well as hundreds of office workers.
With a capacity for 30 people, Wyld Sauna provides ice baths, heated showers and changing facilities. And if you are feeling really brave as December approaches you plunge straight into the icy waters of the dock to cool down.
For those who prefer a more gentle after-sauna relaxation there is coffee, acai bowls, buddha bowls. grab-and-go salads, protein balls, juices and smoothies from Liverpool’s Pomegranate, as well as electrolyte water.
Guests are able to book their preferred time slots for single visits or take advantage of Wyld Cards – pre-booking packages that offer flexibility and affordability. Early sign-ups can take advantage of introductory packages.
All guests will receive a unique code 15 minutes prior to arriving that will grant them access to the sauna and facility. Wyld offers what it claims is a true Nordic experience with sauna whiskes, salt scrubs and sauna hats from Finnmark.

Jon Miller, co-founder of Wyld Sauna, said: “We’ve been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to create our spectacular floating 30-person sauna, and wider facility.
“Wyld has been created to give our community a space to breathe and unwind, an inner city escape where the stresses of everyday life will simply melt away once they arrive and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests.”
