People catching planes from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) will no longer have to put their liquids in clear plastic bags or electronic devices into trays.

As LJLA gears up to handle more than 60,000 passengers over the Easter weekend it reveals that new h-tech scanners installed at the airport will mean a smoother journey through security.

For the past few years people carrying liquids, such as perfumes or deodorants, have had to place the containers in clear plastic bags when going through security. And devices such as laptops and iPads have had to be taken out of luggage and placed in trays.

Now the introduction of the new scanners means passengers can store both liquids and devices in their hand luggage. However, the 100ml limit on liquid containers remains in place for the time being.

This weekend is the first Bank Holiday weekend of 2025 and LJLA is offering its largest range of destinations for years with people. Most popular routes this weekend includeย  Dublin, Alicante, Malaga, Faro, Palma, Belfast, Tenerife, Arrecife, Antalya and Barcelona.

Passengers travelling with easyJet, Jet2 and Ryanair, departing on flights before 8am, have the added flexibility of being able to check in their hold luggage up to three hours before their departure and can enjoy outlets in the enhanced departure lounge.

Robin Tudor, head of PR for LJLA, said: โ€œEaster is always the first really busy period of the year for the airport and with even more flights and destinations available we look forward to welcoming thousands of passengers through the airport.

โ€œThose passing through will also be able to take advantage of a number of new and improved food and beverage facilities in the departure lounge too, following our multi-million pound development works over the winter.โ€
