Facilities management firm Kimpton has secured a new deal to provide maintenance services at Liverpool’s West Tower.

This latest agreement means Kimpton, which changed hands in November in a management buyout, now has contracts on the city’s waterfront looking after facilities across more than one million sq ft of space.

As part of the new contract the firm will maintain the heating and air conditioning systems within the 40-storey building, which comprises a mix of residential apartments and the popular Panoramic 34 restaurant, which has recently changed hands.

Kimpton already counts multiple waterfront sites among its existing clients, including St Nicholas’ Church, M&S Bank Arena, Exhibition Centre Liverpool, The Capital Building, Sony’s headquarters on Old Hall Street and Mann Island Apartments, as well as the Radisson Blu and Leonardo hotels.

Matt Breakwell, business development director at Kimpton, said: “West Tower is an iconic, contemporary landmark on Liverpool’s skyline, offering an excellent setting and views over the city for both its residents and those dining at the Panoramic.

“Servicing and maintenance of heating and ventilation systems is at the core of our business and is something for which we are proud to be respected by clients across the North West and beyond.”

Based in Bromborough, Kimpton specialises in mechanical and engineering services, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, commercial fit-out and service and facilities management.

It was founded by Eric Kimpton 61 years ago. In 2001 his son Richard Kimpton took over the business, also in an MBO, and since then has overseen significant growth. Latest accounts show revenues rising by more than 75% to £25.7m.

Now the Kimptons have sold a controlling stake in the business to Tim Davis, who was formerly the firm’s general manager, and Linzi Kelly. Value of the deal was undisclosed but the accounts reveal net assets of £4.38m.
