A joint venture between Qualis Developments and the Forshaw Group will see 78 new homes built in the Northbank neighbourhood at Wirral Waters. Tony McDonough reports

More homes are set to be built at Wirral Waters as phase two of the Redbridge Quay project in the Northbank neighbourhood is revealed.
A joint venture between Qualis Developments and the Forshaw Group is seeking planning consent from Wirral Council to build 78 new homes. They will comprise 64 one-bedroom apartments and 14 two-bedroom homes.
Redbridge Quay’s first phase saw the completion of 28 two, three and four-bedroom modular homes at Dock Road in a £55m project. It is called Redbridge Quay due to its proximity to the famous red bridge in the northeast corner of Birkenhead Docks.
This latest phase will see waterside gardens and “expansive glazing”. Designs incorporate a take on the Victorian terraced house and include open plan living spaces with cathedral ceilings, double height living spaces and waterside patios.
They will be located next to the recently regenerated East Float Quay – the Grade II-listed former grain warehouses – and surrounded by dockside walkways, green landscaping, a new pocket park and new public realm.
Qualis Developments is a property development company based in Manchester specialising in the design and build of new homes across the north of England.
Recent developments include Great Central in Sheffield and The Interchange in Manchester. Qualis will be working with the Forshaw Group, a Merseyside residential property developer that specialises in transforming unused land and buildings.

Richard Dean, managing director at Qualis Developments, said: “Our aim has always been to provide affordable, beautiful and well-designed homes for a range of buyers.
“We believe that is exactly what we’ll deliver at Wirral Waters – our very first development in Liverpool city region and hopefully the first of many.”
All homes in Redbridge Quay phase two will include, as standard, app-enabled electric heating or air-source heat pumps, solar roof panels, heat recovery, and access to electric vehicle charging.

The developers will also employ a “fabric first” approach creating highly insulated homes built with robust materials.
2024 also saw the completion of the first 150 apartments within the £130m Millers Quay development hit the market, reaching 80% occupancy just ten weeks after completion.
The final 350 new homes at Millers Quay are due to complete early in 2025. Together, Redbridge Quay and Millers Quay will contain more than 850 homes, including 100 affordable homes.
Richard Mawdsley, director of development at Wirral Waters, added: “Residential development is moving at pace along Northbank and it’s fantastic to see this new community growing.”
