Liverpool law firm Brabners is reporting another year of rising revenues and profits as the practice ends its three-year growth plan on a high.
Brabners, which also has offices in Manchester, Preston and Leeds, has filed its accounts for the 12 months to April 30, 2024, on Companies House. They reveal a 15% increase in revenues to £53.9m.
They also show profits of £18.1m, up from £15.7m in the previous year. This has been shared out among its 85 partners. Average payout to partners totals £214,000 with the highest-paid partner pocketing £488,000.
Employing more than 400 people, Brabners is a corporate law firm led by chief executive Robert White and managing partner Nik White. These accounts marked the end of a three-year growth plan based on “purpose-led growth” and “value-led efficiency”.
“Through this strategy the firm has achieved its objectives by continuing to invest in its client relationships, building a strong market position in key sectors,” the accounts stated. They added that partners regarded the results as “satisfactory”.
This week Brabners said its 50-strong corporate team had advised on more than £800m worth of deals in 2024 – a 31% increase on 2023. Deal volumes during the year also increased from 180 to 188.
Clients of the team include Peel Ports, NWF Group and Suez. This makes 2024 the third consecutive year of growth for the team. It says activity was driven by “consistently strong acquisitive demand” among larger firms.
Brabners also advised on 22 deals supporting the transition of firms to employee ownership, with clients including popular Liverpool-based restaurant chain Lunya and legal recruitment firm TRG.

Ruth Hargreaves, partner and deputy head of the corporate team at Brabners, said: “Despite challenging market conditions, M&A activity remained buoyant in 2024.
“We’re pleased to see that reflected not only in the deal volumes we supported but also the increased value placed upon high quality businesses coming up for sale or strategic investment.”

Head of facilities Alan Lloyd said: “Our continued investment in our offices ensures that we can attract and retain the very best talent, and unlock collaboration between our teams through the provision of inspiring, motivational and enjoyable places to work.”
