Everton FC will kick off the 2025/26 Premier League season at their new ยฃ750m stadium at Liverpool Waters in August but what does it mean for the surrounding area.

From the conception of the project the club and city region political leaders have claimed the 52,888-capacity arena at Bramley Moore-Dock will be worth more than ยฃ1bn to the local economy and lead to tens of thousands of jobs.

However, such projections are still an abstraction but now Sefton Council is looking to take it out of the abstract and begin to get a handle on exactly how it will boost the economy, particularly in nearby Bootle.

It has launched a new survey and is encouraging businesses in the area to take part. It seeks views on topics including transport, such as shuttle and bus services, business growth potential, increased footfall and spending on matchdays.

The council also wants to examine theย  wider impacts on Bootleโ€™s growing Salt and Tar event programme. Salt and Tar is a live music and events venue created as part of the multi-million pound regeneration of the Bootle Strand area.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, leader of Sefton Council, said: โ€œThis is a fantastic opportunity to shape Bootleโ€™s future and ensure we make the most of the opportunities the new Everton stadium brings.

โ€œFrom transport links to economic growth, we want to hear from our businesses on what would help them thrive and how we can create a vibrant and welcoming town centre.โ€

The council is encouraging local businesses of all sizes and sectors to take part in the survey. The insights gathered will help inform future planning and investment decisions. It is open now and can be accessed online until Friday, May 30, by clicking here.
