Blueoak Estates will unveil phase two of its latest £14m luxury apartments scheme in Wirral this month with phase one almost sold out.

Work started on the scheme on the site of the former West Kirby fire station in October 2023. It comprises a total of 32 apartments. Phase one, called Station House and comprising 18 apartments, is already complete and “approaching a complete sell-out”.

On May 17, Blueoak will unveil phase two. Called Brigade House it offers 14 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including two penthouses.

Iain MacLean, managing director of Blueoak Estates, said: “This is such a fantastic scheme and has really resonated with so many different types of people, keen to live in this corner of the Wirral in an accessible, modern home.

“Brigade House marks the second half of the scheme, and while we are fast approaching a complete sale of Station House, this gives interested parties a second opportunity to secure a home.

“The site is really taking shape now and visitors joining us on our first open day can get a real sense of how life here will look and feel.”

West Kirby’s fire station closed in 2016 due to budget cuts with a replacement later built in Saughall Massie. It became severely dilapidated and was affected by vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

However, an initial attempt by Blueoak to secure planning permission for the apartments was turned down by Wirral Council. The authority had initially designated the site for commercial or social infrastructure. However, Bluoak persisted and secured consent.

Iain said phase one had attracted a “broad and diverse demographic”, from young professionals to retired, local downsizers. This is a trend that Blueoak expects to continue with the launch of phase two.

“Station House and Brigade House hold incredibly broad appeal, the facilities, design and location, making this a strong and attractive proposition to almost anyone,” he added.

“We believe that this scheme will mark the beginnings of a blossoming new community who will undoubtedly embrace everything that this unique seaside town has to offer.”
