A Liverpool boutique hotel is on the market with a price tag of £2.25m after collapsing into administration and closing its doors. Tony McDonough reports

A boutique hotel in Liverpool city centre that collapsed into administration in 2024 is on the market with a price tag of £2.25m.
Duke Street Boutique Hotel originally opened in 2021 and offers 30 en suite letting rooms, three of which have access to a courtyard area. However the hotel is currently closed and joint administrators have sanctioned a sale.
Property consultancy Christie & Co has been instructed to market the property. The firm said: “The property is well-presented and of modern construction, and the hotel has previously operated with a limited service.”
This hotel fronts onto Duke Street, a major thoroughfare, and is within minutes of Chinatown, which Christie describes as “the bohemian heart of the city” and is offering the freehold interest.
It added: “Popular points of interest and attractions such as Liverpool One and Liverpool Echo Arena, as well as Central and Lime Street railway stations, are within easy reach, and the city draws both leisure and business travellers all year round.”

The hotel is currently closed and is being offered with vacant possession on the instruction of the joint administrators.
Tom O’Malley, associate director at Christie & Co who is managing the sale, said: “Given its location within Liverpool city centre, and the appetite for limited-service hotels, we expect strong demand for this hotel.”
Liverpool’s hotel sector has boomed since the city was European Capital of Culture in 2008. Capacity has grown from around 2,000 beds to almost 10,000 beds. It has been boosted by the launch of the Liverpool Accommodation BID.
